Goo on a Spoon

Several of my blogging friends have been directing readers to the posts on their blogs that they feel best represent them, beyond their “About” pages. They are doing this at the suggestion of the most recent post at Sonmi’s Cloud. This is mine. It was written before I had followers and has fewer likes than most of my more recent posts, but it tells my story and explains where I am and why I write.

The Counterfeit Christian

‘So tell me, since it makes no factual difference to you and you can’t prove the question either way, which story do you prefer? Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without animals?’
Mr. Okamoto: ‘That’s an interesting question.’
Mr. Chiba: ‘The story with animals.’
Mr. Okamoto: ‘Yes. The story with animals is the better story.’
Pi Patel: ‘Thank you. And so it goes with God.’

The Life of Pi. No work of art has influenced me more than this one. Nothing better captures what it means to be human–to have the gift of imagination so that life is more than just a series of events. It is a story.
